As an addendum to the ambiguous "Use Common Sense" rule, I'm adding this:
Alpha-Numeric characters only.
This means a-z, A-Z, 0-9.
Any new towns/civs with non alpha-numeric names will receive a new name as determined by my children.

They like naming things. I let them name our amiibos
Anyways, this should resolve the issue of "non type-able" civ and town names.
